Curtis J. Osentoski

Mr. Curtis J. Osentoski, 89 of Ubly, passed away Wednesday, December 14, 2011 at Courtney Manor in Bad Axe. Curt was born on September 24, 1922 in Tyre to the late Joseph and Mary (Schwartz) Osentoski. He married Frances Kubacki on June 14, 1947 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Gaylord. She preceded him in death on January 3, 2011. He worked for elevators all over the thumb area. He served in the US Army during WWII in Italy. He was a member of the Parisville VFW Post No. 5740 where he was the Post Commander for 17 years. He was also a member of the Thumb Veterans Organization. He was a parishioner at St. John Catholic Church in Ubly where he served as an usher. He was also a member of the Ubly Sheridan Knights of Columbus Council No. 12850. Curt enjoyed playing cards, especially euchre. He was an avid Detroit Tigers fan. He also enjoyed watching the Polka show, farm shows and mass on television. Curt is survived by his six children, Marie Lasceski and her husband, Frank, of Ubly, Jim Osentoski and his wife, Diana of Ubly, Janice Carpenter and her husband, John, of Saginaw and China, Ronald Osentoski and his wife, Shirley, of New Baltimore, Arnold Osentoski and his wife, Joan, of Ubly, Kevin Osentoski and his wife, Margaret of Bad Axe; 18 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; 2 daughters-in-law, Kathy Osentoski of Pontiac and Gloria Osentoski of Texas; three sisters, Helen Kociba of Ubly, Ilene Narring and her husband, Ted, of Warren, Delores Stacer and her husband Jim of Harbor Beach; one brother, Mark Osentoski and his wife, Bernice of Kinde. Curt was preceded in death by one son, Robert; two brothers, Cletus Osentoski and Leonard Osentoski and his wife, Marie. Mass of Christian Burial will be 12:30 pm Saturday, December 17 at St. John Catholic Church in Ubly. Rev. Joseph Griffin, pastor will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be at the Zinger-Smigielski Funeral Home in Ubly on Thursday from 6-9 pm, Friday from 1-8 pm and Saturday from 10:30-11:30 am. There will be a Knights of Columbus rosary at 7 pm Friday evening at the funeral home.
