Mrs. Malina M Kulish, 97 of Minden City, passed away Tuesday, January 17, 2012 at Autumnwood of Deckerville. She was born on December 31, 1914 in Sigel Township. She was the daughter of the late Toefil and Mary (Balcer) Duda. Malina and Clement Kulish were united in marriage on November 7, 1942 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Parisville. Clement preceded her in death on February 11, 1989. Malina and her husband farmed in Minden Township before buying and operating the West End Hotel of Minden City for approximately 25 years. Being a woman of boundless energy, she simultaneously worked at Clements Wire and Cable for 20 years. She was a lifelong member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Parisville where she was a member of the Rosary Sodality. The things that she cherished the most in her life were her faith, family and friends. She was a highly competitive card player, polka dancer, bowler, great cook, baker, quilter and gardener. In retirement, she and Clem tackled the craft of wine making with grapes from their own garden. She is survived by her 4 daughters, Carol, Mary and Barbara Kulish, Jean (Michael) Maikrzek, all of Troy; three sons, John (Joyce) of Washington Twp., Donald (Deborah) of Shelby Twp., Clement (Cecilia) of Phoenix, Ariz., 8 grandchildren, Jennifer (Michael) Jarvis, Dr. John (Dr. Jennifer) Kulish, Bradley (Maggie) Kulish, Christopher Kulish, Justin (Rachel) Maikrzek, David Kulish, Charles Kulish, Laura Kulish; 5 great grandchildren, Sophia, Kate and Caden Kulish, Stephen and Andy Jarvis; one sister-in-law, Irene Duda of Harbor Beach; many nieces and nephews. Malina was preceded in death by her siblings and their spouses, Anthony (Bertha) Duda, Sabina Duda, Casmir (Rose) Duda, Thomas (Anna) Duda, Emily (Edward) Sherman, Stephen (Lillian) Duda, Joseph (Mary) Duda, Victor Duda, Monica (John) Mausolf; one sister-in-law, Bertha (Marvin) Matson. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 am Saturday, January 21 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Parisville. Rev. Donald Eppenbrock will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be at the Smigielski Funeral Home on Cass Ave in Minden City on Friday from 2-9 pm and from 10-11 am Saturday at the church only. There will be a rosary at 3 pm Friday by the St. Mary Rosary Sodality and a parish vigil service at 7 pm. Both service will be at the funeral home. Memorials are requested to the Family Discretionary Fund.
