Emma Wodwaski, 99, of Parisville, died Saturday, March 3, 2012 at her residence in Midland. Mrs. Wodwaski was born May 19, 1912 in Chicago, Illinois, daughter of the late Albert and Lucy (Ceglarek) Chwalisz. She married John Wodwaski, Sr. on June 14, 1933 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Parisville. He preceded her in death on May 3, 1984. Emma attended St. Mary of the Angels School in Chicago. She worked as a telephone operator in Chicago before her marriage and also worked at the Babe Ruth Candy Company. She lived in Parisville most of her life and moved to the Midland area in 2005. She was a parishioner of St. Mary Catholic Church in Parisville where she was a member of the Rosary Sodality. Emma loved getting together with her family, traveling, reading and playing cards. She was noted for her baking, especially her bread. First and foremost was her faith, with a special devotion to Mary, and the rosary. She is survived by five children: Bernadette Messing of Minden City, John Wodwaski Jr. and his wife Elaine of Ruth, Adrian Wodwaski of Midland, Kathryn Bede and her husband Rene of Burton, Lucille Wodwaski of Midland. One Sister: Lucy Gomoluch of Norridge, IL., one daughter-in-law, Bernadette Schwalm and her husband, Robert of Ubly; Her Grandchildren: Vincent Messing, Jr., Christopher (Dorothy) Messing, Neil (Diane) Messing, Stanley (Lori) Messing, Leo (Tanya) Messing, Julie (John) Stapleton, Andrew (Rose) Messing, Ambrose (Madonna) Messing, Thomas Messing, Greg (Vanessa) Messing, Johnathan (Karen) Messing, Jeanette (Joseph) Geiger, Barbara (Cass) Lackowski, Michael Wodwaski, John (Nadine) Wodwaski, III, Mary (Gary) Labor, Patrick (Sheri) Wodwaski, Mark (Stephanie) Wodwaski, Anthony (Tracey) Wodwaski, Loretta Wingard, Karen (John) Murphy, Margaret (Geoff) Aughe, Joseph Wodwaski, Patricia Wodwaski, Keri Vinson, Martin Bede. 45 great-grandchildren; 6 great great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. The family would like to give special thanks to nephew, Tom Woycik, Dawn, Gordon and Ruth. Emma was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Mary Grace, two sons: Dennis and Peter Wodwaski, Son-in-law: Vincent Messing, Sr.; two granddaughters; Cheryl Bede and Mary Messing; two sisters: Clare Olson and Marian Chwalisz, three brothers: Arthur, Florian and Earnest. Funeral Mass for Mrs. Wodwaski will be 11:00 A.M. Saturday, March 10, 2012, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Parisville. Rev. Peter Nwokoye, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call at the Zinger-Smigielski Funeral Home in Ubly on Friday from 2:00 until 9:00 p.m. and Saturday at the church only from 10:00 a.m. until the mass at 11:00 a.m. There will be a joint rosary at 3:30 p.m. Friday by the St. Mary’s Rosary Sodality and the St. Mary’s Mens Club and a parish vigil service at 7:00 p.m. Friday, both at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to St. Mary Church, Parisville.
