Thomas John Roth

Thomas John Roth, 65 of Minden City, passed away Thursday, March 22, 2012 at his home. Tom was born on August 3, 1946 in Minden City to the late Raymond and Beatrice (Hessling) Roth. He married Sharon Maier on May 18, 1974 in Port Sanilac Tom was a 1965 graduate of the Sts. Peter & Paul High School. He served in the US Army during the Vietnam war. He retired from the Sanilac County Road Commission after 43 years of service. He was also a part time farmer. Tom was a member of the Parisville VFW Post No. 5740. He was also a member of the Ruth Knights of Columbus Council No. 3823. He was a current member and past President of the Minden City Lions Club. Tom was a proud member of the Motor City Rockets. In life, Tom enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He especially loved playing with his grandson, Dilan. He also enjoyed working on his 1965 442 Oldsmobile, snowmobiling, hunting, playing cards and polka music. Tom is survived by his wife of 37 years, Sharon of Minden City; his children, Scott Thomas (Julie) Roth of Oakland Township, Darin John (Courtney) Roth of Columbiaville; grandson Dilan John Roth; his siblings, Larry (Angie) Roth, Robert (Nancy) Roth, Linda (Mark) Wehner, Barbara (George) Ellwanger, Mary (Jim) Coryell, Susan (Jim) McDonald, Steve Roth, Lori (Mike) Lizak; his mother-in-law, Jane Maier; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-laws, Janet (Don) Cornwell, Deb (Randy) Thomas, Bill Maier, Mike (Shelly) Maier, Michelle (Tony) Weber; many nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Tom was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Edward “Bud” Maier. Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, March 27 at 11 am at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Palms. Rev. Donald Eppenbrock will officiate. Burial will be in the Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Cemetery in Ruth. Visitation will be at the Smigielski Funeral Home on Cass Ave in Minden City on Monday from 2-9 pm and Tuesday from 10-11 am at St. Patrick Church only. Memorials are requested to the Minden City Lions Club.
