John J. Geboski Jr.

Mr. John J. Geboski Jr. 83 of Ubly, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Tuesday, April 3, 2012 at Huron Medical Center in Bad Axe. John was born on March 14, 1929 in Huron County, son of the late John Sr. And Theresa (Peplinski) Geboski. He married Mary Louise Schrader on May 21, 1949 at the St. John Rectory in Ubly. She preceded him in death on April 29, 1998. John was a graduate of Ubly High School. He was employed for 41 years at Michigan Bell as a lineman and PBX repairman before he retired in 1988. He was one of the founding members and former treasurer of the Ubly Fox Hunters Club. John coached and managed numerous Ubly little league teams for many years. He was a volunteer for the Bingham Fire Department for many years. He was an avid hunter. John enjoyed watching sporting events, especially the Detroit Pistons and Tigers. He truly enjoyed following the school and sports activities that his grandchildren were involved in. John is survived by his son and care giver, Ron of Ubly; one daughter, Karen Mineau and her husband, David, of Marysville; two grandchildren, Sarah and Jacob Mineau of Marysville; two sisters-in-law, Florence Schrader and Madeline Schrader, both of Ubly; nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one son, Donald Geboski; one daughter, Nancy Geboski, one brother, Glenn Geboski. The prayer service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, April 7 at St. John Catholic Church in Ubly. Rev. Joseph Griffin will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be at the Zinger-Smigielski Funeral Home in Ubly on Friday from 4-8 pm and Saturday from 10-11 a.m. at St. John Church only.
