Lawrence "Larry" V. Rutkowski

Mr. Lawrence “Larry” V. Rutkowski, 69, of Ubly, passed away Wednesday, July 25, 2012 after a long illness with his family by his side. Larry was born on December 23, 1942 in Ubly to the late Sylvester and Antoinette (Jurkowski) Rutkowski. He married Lucille Matzke on February 22, 1975 in Bad Axe. He was a graduate of Ubly High School. He was a parishioner at St. Mary Catholic Church in Parisville. He was a 3rd degree member of the Bad Axe Knights of Columbus Council # 1546. He belonged to the Ubly Fox Hunters Club. Larry was a member and past President of the Minden City Lions Club as well as one of the past District Governor for District 11-D-2. He loved to work with wood, playing with his grandchildren, fishing, playing bingo and the lottery. He truly enjoyed helping others when they needed it. Larry is survived by his wife of 37 years, Lucille “Lucy” Rutkowski of Ubly; two daughters, Karen Rutkowski and Kelly (Jim) Jamison, both of Ubly; one son, Chris (Angie) Rutkowski of Chattanooga, TN; 15 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; two brothers, Anthony (Alita Mae) Rutkowski of Ubly, Bernard (Delphine) Rutkowski of Kinde; four sisters, Dorothy Kolar of Ubly, Josephine (George) Essenmacher of Birch Run, Betty (William) Siemen of Imlay City, Margaret “Margie” Zalewski of Sterling Heights; one step-daughter, Luann Robinson of Oklahoma; five step-sons, Wayne (Patty) Pruner of Vassar, Randy Pruner of San Deigo, Calif., Robert Pelke of Covington, KY, Dale Pruner and Roger Pruner both of Michigan. He was preceded in death by one brother Robert Rutkowski and one step-son, Thomas Pruner Jr. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 am Saturday, July 28, 2012 at St. Mary Catholic church in Parisville. Rev. Peter Nwokoye, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be at the Zinger-Smigielski Funeral Home in Ubly on Thursday form 6-9 pm, Friday from 1-9 pm and Saturday from 10-11 am at the church only. There will be a Knights of Columbus rosary on Friday evening at 7 pm at the funeral home. Memorials have been requested to the Family Discretionary Fund.
