Mr. Harold H. Gornowicz, 72 of Snover passed away Wednesday, October 17, 2012 at Tendercare in Cass City. He was born on August 31, 1940 in Tyre to the late Henry and Julia (Pionk) Gornowicz. He married Karen Priemer on April 27, 1963 at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Ruth. Harold was a graduate of Ubly High School. He was a veteran of the US Army. He was employed at Yale Rubber from 1960-1967 when he began employment with Brencal Construction in Detroit. In 1992 he began employment with Vlasic Foods in Imlay City, retiring in 2002. Harold truly enjoyed his grandchildren. He also enjoyed visiting Amish farmers, polka music, crop touring and traveling to Alaska. Harold is survived by his wife of 49 years, Karen of Snover; three children, Thomas and his wife Sue of Minden City, Lisa Koglin and her husband, David of Port Hope, H. John and his wife, Caroline of Kingston; eight grandchildren, Jennifer (Edward) Monzo of Minden City, Kristy Gamer of Minden City, Stephen (Kathy) Gamer of Ubly, Shaun Gamer of Minden City, Kristyna Gornowicz of Kingston, Allyson Koglin of Port Hope, Eric Koglin of Port Hope, Alyssa Gornowicz of Kingston; 11 great grandchildren; three sisters, Barbara (Carl) Keller of Snover, Judith (Ken) Bonin of Fla., Sandra (George) Augustyniak of Pinconning; one brother, Leo (Betty) Gornowicz of Mobile, Alabama; brothers and sisters-in-law, Audrey (Ron) Grifka, Judy (Jerome) Messing of Ubly, Jean (Dan) Kramer of Harbor Beach, Cheryl (Jim) Hill of KY, Luann (Calvin) Oberski of Ruth. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Virgil Gornowicz and Robert Gornowicz Sr., father-in-law and mother-in-law, Eugene and Sylvia Priemer; one sister-in-law, Susie Gornowicz. The Memorial Mass for Harold will be 11 am Tuesday, October 23 at St. Ignatius Catholic Church in Freiburg. Rev. Joseph Griffin, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be at St. Ignatius Church on Tuesday from 10 am until the mass at 11 am. Memorials are requested to the Family Discretionary Fund.
