Mrs. Bertha Karges, 98 of Bradenton, Fla. and formerly of Parisville, passed away Saturday, November 17, 2012 in Bradenton. She was born on January 5, 1914 in Sherman Township to the late Peter and Annie (Shubert) Pawlowski. Bertha was one of 14 children of Peter and Annie’s family. Bertha married Ralph Karges on November 10, 1931 at Our Lady of Lake Huron Catholic Church in Harbor Beach. He preceded her in death on April 15, 1993. She attended a country school. She farmed with her husband and family in Paris Township. Bertha and her husband Ralph worked with the Cook family at the Arcadia Ballroom in Parisville. She was an active parishioner at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Ruth when they resided in the Thumb. She had resided in Bradenton Fla. since 1977 and was a parishioner at Queen of Martyrs Catholic Church in Sarasota, Fla. Bertha was an avid bingo player and also enjoyed playing cards, cooking and canning. She truly cherished visiting with family and friends in Michigan and Florida. Bertha is survived by many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her 13 siblings. Mass of Christian Burial will be 12 noon Friday, November 23 at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Ruth. Rev. Peter Nwokoye, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church on Friday from 10 am until the Mass at 12 noon.
