Arthur "Art" N. Susalla

Mr. Arthur “Art” N. Susalla, 92, formerly of Bad Axe and Ubly, passed away Thursday, November 29, 2012 at the Woodland Acres AFC Home in Snover where he was a resident. He was born on August 21, 1920 in Paris Township to the late Stanley and Anna (O’Berski) Susalla. He married Rita Kaliszewski on November 6, 1943 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Ubly. She preceded him in death on March 31, 2006. Arthur attended a country school and then worked in the city for three years. He was employed at Nestle for 25 years as Weight Manager. He worked as a painter and home decorator for 65 years before retiring at 80 years old, which was his hobby and passion. Arthur was a drummer in a polka band. He was a former member of the Ubly Fox Hunters. He was a former parishioner at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Bad Axe and St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Ubly. Arthur’s family wishes to extend their heartfelt thank you for the exceptional care given to him by Evelyn Minard and the staff of Woodland Acres AFC Home in Snover. Arthur is survived by two sons, Kenneth Susalla of Zephyrhills, Fla. and Gary Susalla and Dorothy Hund, of Cass City; one grandson, Jason Susalla, one granddaughter, Jennifer, three great grandchildren, Shelby, Brandon and Daniel. He was preceded in death by one daughter-in-law, Marlys Susalla. Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, December 3, 2012 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Ubly. Rev. Joseph Griffin, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Monday morning from 10-11 am at St. John Church in Ubly.
