Irwin "Chub" E. Shubel

Irwin “Chub” E. Shubel, 66 of Ubly, passed away Monday, May 27, 2013 at McLaren Bay Regional Hospital in Bay City. He was born on February 21, 1947 in Bad Axe to the late Irwin and Esther (Hass) Shubel. Chub was a graduate of Ubly High School. He attended Port Huron Junior College. He was employed as an electrical contractor in Michigan, California and Texas. Chub was a member of the International Brothers of Electrical Workers Local 17 in Detroit. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Kinde. Chub enjoyed building motorcycles and cars. He loved the outdoors and his earlier years on the farm. He loved his pets. Chub was very talented both electrically and mechanically. Chub is survived by one son, Kyle Shubel of Marshfield, Missouri; one daughter, Erin Shubel of Richardson, Texas; one grandson, Charles Shubel of Richardson, Texas; his long time special friend, Agnes Peruski of Ubly; one brother, Ira and his wife, Darlene of Gregory, Mich.; one sister, Mary Carless and husband, James Beelby of Harrison Township; a few nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be 11 am Saturday, June 1 at the Zinger-Smigielski Funeral Home in Ubly, Pastor John Rapson will officiate. Burial will be in the New River Cemetery in Port Austin Township. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Friday from 2-9 pm and Saturday from 10-11 am.
