Mr. Alvin H. Loos, 80 of Port Austin and formerly of Grosse Pointe and San Jose, California, passed away on July 5, 2013 in Covenant Hospital in Saginaw. Alvin was born on March 16, 1933 in Bad Axe to the late Elmer and Rosina (Rothe) Loos. Alvin was a veteran of the Korean War and was honorably discharged. He was a member of the American Legion and was past Post Commander in San Jose. He enjoyed fishing and bird and deer hunting. Alvin truly enjoyed piloting small aircraft across the country. Alvin is survived by three nephews, Brian Loos and his wife, Katherine of St. Clair Shores, Randy Jones of New Baltimore and Ryan Jones of Clinton Twp.; one niece, Rhonda Pearson of Apache Junction, Ariz.; great nephew Brian Loos. He was preceded in death by one niece, Kelley Loos. The funeral service will be 2:00 pm Friday, July 12 at the Zinger-Smigielski Funeral Home in Ubly. Pastor Kenneth Leuke of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Bad Axe will officiate. Burial will be in Valley Cemetery in Ubly with military honors. Visitation will be at the funeral home in Ubly on Friday from 11:00 am until the service at 2:00 pm. Memorials have been requested to American Red Cross or American Cancer Foundation.
