Marion A. Rutkowski, 61 of Ubly, passed away Monday, August 5, 2013 after suffering a stroke on Wednesday, July 31. He was born on August 4, 1952 at the Bad Axe Hospital to the late Stanley and Frances (Osantoski) Rutkowski. Marion was a 1971 graduate of Ubly High School. He worked with his father on the family farm located on M-19 and Huron County Line Road until his father passed away in 1990. Marion then took over the homestead. He was a life long parishioner of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Ubly. He was a member of the Ubly Fox Hunters Club for many years. Marion is survived by eight sisters and one brother, Shirley (Henry) Piontkowski of Ubly, Richard (Pat) Rutkowski of Vassar, Marlene (Ronald) Bukowski of Metamora, Reta (Larry) Wehner of Harbor Beach, Ilene (Tim) Topolinski of Caledonia, Betty (Gerald) Eckenswiller of Troy, Kathleen (William) VanErp of Canton, Darlene Rutkowski of San Mateo, Calif., Carol Lamke of Ubly; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister, Virginia Rutkowski and his parents. Mass of Christian burial will be 11:00 am, Friday, August 9 at Good Shepherd Parish, St. John Church in Ubly. Rev. Charles Hammons, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in the St. John Cemetery in Ubly. Visitation will be at the Zinger-Smigielski Funeral Home in Ubly on Thursday from 2:00-9:00 pm and Friday from 10:00-11:00 am at St. John Church in Ubly. There will be a parish vigil service on Thursday evening at 7 pm and an Ubly Fox Hunters Club Tribute at 7:30 pm. Both services will be at the funeral home. Memorials have been requested to the Family Discretionary Fund.
