LaVerne Clements Cook

Mr. LaVerne C. Cook, 61 of Harbor Beach passed away November 1, 2013 at his residence while under hospice care. He was born on April 12, 1952 in Harbor Beach, MI to the late Gordon and Sylvia (Rutkowski) Cook. LaVerne was a graduate of Harbor Beach High School. He farmed with his son, Timothy and was a truck driver for Countryside Storage and Transfer of Sebewaing. He enjoyed working with his neighbors. He was a member of the Grindstone Port Hope Sportsman’s Club. He served as a Sigel Township Firefighter. He was a parishioner at St. Mary Catholic Church, St. Isidore Parish of Parisville. LaVerne enjoyed playing softball, euchre and pool, snowmobiling, riding motorcycles, listening and dancing to polka music, fishing and tractor pulled. He also enjoyed trips to the casinos and visiting with family and friends. His two favorite sayings were, “Boy, life is good!” or “God, life is good!” LaVerne is survived by his significant other, Kelly Marks of Harbor Beach; his children, Christopher J. Cook and Timothy A. Cook, both of Harbor Beach, Keri A. Cook of Saginaw; one brother, Marvin Cook and his wife, Erma of Harbor Beach; two sisters, Joyce Downey of Lincoln Park and Marcyann Fioretti and her husband, Charles of Almont; many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. The memorial Mass will be 11 am Thursday, November 7 at St. Mary Catholic Church, St. Isidore Parish, Parisville. Rev. Todd Arnberg, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be on Thursday morning from 10-11 am at the church only. Memorials have been requested for masses or to the Family Discretionary Fund.
