Madelyn Elizabeth Schrader

Mrs. Madelyn Schrader, 87 of Ubly, joined her loved ones in God’s heavenly kingdom on May 22, 2014 at Meadow Lane Assisted Living in Bad Axe. Madelyn was born on January 23, 1927 in Sandusky to the late Jacob and Lena (Rump) Frederick. She married Fernand Beaudin on April 22, 1946 in Bad Axe with whom she had three sons, Ken, John and Frederick “Joe” Beaudin. She married Verne Schrader on August 8, 1974 in Port Austin. He preceded her in death January 18, 1980. Madelyn was a 1945 graduate of Bad Axe High School. She worked at Huron Memorial Hospital for many years as the manager of the medical transcription department. Madelyn was a parishioner of Good Shepherd Parish, St. John Church of Ubly and an Honorary Christian Mother. She was a member of the Ubly Community Club and performed in the Ubly Alabama Jubilees. She enjoyed reading, bowling, playing cards and traveling. She was an avid University of Michigan football fan. Her most favorite time was spent at her summer home up in Port Austin with her family and friends. Madelyn is survived by one son, Ken (Sue) Beaudin of Midland; one daughter-in-law, Carol Beaudin of Ubly; two step-daughters, Barbara Ruthig of Ubly and Shelly (Paul) Alent of Minden City; one step-son, Gary (Cindy) Schrader of Centerville, MI; grandchildren, Joshua and Jason Beaudin and his special friend, Samantha Schultz, all of Midland, Jeanene (Rick) Schmidt of Ubly, Beth Beaudin-Seiler (Ryan Seiler) of Battle Creek, Sarah John (Jeremy) Hoagland of Anthem, AZ, Kyle, Stacy and Jake Beaudin of Bad Axe; step grandchildren, Richard (Amy), Kevin and Lisa Schrader of Greenville, SC, Kelly (Dennis) Wolschlager of Bad Axe, Greg (Anesa) Ruthig of Ubly, Jason (Corinne) Ruthig of Macomb Township, Melissa (Fred) Pallas of Ubly, Nicole (Tom) Jacobs of Freeland, Devon (Chad) Stoddard of Glendale, AZ; Gary Jr., Rhiannon and Vanessa Schrader of Bad Axe, Kaylyn, Madison, and Peyton Schrader, all of Centerville, MI; ; several great grandchildren; one brother, John (Sue) Frederick of Schulenberg, TX; one sister, Marsha (Paul) Schell of Traverse City; two sisters-in-law, Florence Schrader of Ubly and Sayde Frederick of Sandusky; several nieces and nephews. Madelyn was preceded in death by her sons, John and Frederick “Joe” Beaudin, one step-son, Richard Schrader, one step-son-in-law, David Ruthig; one great grandson, Beau Matthew Seiler; her brothers, George, Max, Jack, Joseph and Robert Frederick ; her sisters and their husbands, Mary (Fred) Berger, Anne (Joseph) Money, Helen (Jack) Woods, Jean (Ray) Weber; one brother-in-law, Gerald Schrader; one sister-in-law, Mary Lou Geboski and her husband, John. Mass of Christian burial will be 11:00 am Wednesday, May 28 at Good Shepherd Parish, St. John Catholic Church in Ubly. Rev. Charles Hammond, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be at the Zinger-Smigielski Funeral Home in Ubly on Tuesday from 5:00-9:00 pm and Wednesday from 10:00-11:00 am at the church only. There will be a Christian Mothers rosary Tuesday evening at 7:00 pm and a parish vigil service at 7:30. Both services will be at the funeral home. Memorials are requested to the donor’s choice.
