Jeanette M. Goniwecha

Ms. Jeanette M. Goniwecha, 79 of Harbor Beach passed away Tuesday, June 10, 2014 at Courtney Manor in Bad Axe. Jeanette was born on December 10, 1934 in Harbor Beach to the late Walter and Rose (Wodwaska) Goniwiecha. Jeanette attended Duda Elementary School and was a 1953 graduate of Harbor Beach Community Schools. She worked on the family farm and cooked for many weddings in the area. Jeanette was a lifelong parishioner at St. Mary Catholic Church in Parisville where she was a member of the Rosary Sodality. Jeanette enjoyed gardening, baking, being outdoors and visiting with family and friends. Jeanette is survived by two sisters, Jacqueline Goniwiecha of Harbor Beach, Rita Frank of Cleveland, Ohio; one brother-in-law, Joseph Calabrese of Pompano, Fla., three nephews, Don Frank, Joseph Frank and Leslie Weiss Jr.; two nieces, Mary Schillinger and Susan Weiss-Dobson; 13 great nieces and nephews. Jeanette was preceded in death by three sisters, Mary Isabelle, Evelyn Calabrese and Mary Weiss and her husband, Leslie; one brother-in-law, Donald Frank. Mass of Christian burial will be 11 am Friday, June 13 at St. Mary Catholic Church of St. Isidore Parish in Parisville. Rev. Todd Arnberg, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be at the Zinger-Smigielski Funeral Home in Ubly on Thursday from 1:30-9:00 pm and Friday from 9:00-10:00 am. There will be a rosary by the St. Mary Rosary Sodality Thursday evening at 7:00 pm and a parish vigil service at 7:30 pm. Both services will be at the funeral home. Memorials have been requested to the Family Discretionary Fund.
