Lloyd F. Schumacher

Mr. Lloyd F. Schumacher, 79 of Sandusky passed away Wednesday morning, January 7, 2015 at St. Mary Hospital in Saginaw after a battle with cancer. He was born on March 8, 1935 in Harbor Beach to the late Raymond and Lauretta (Kirsch) Schumacher. He married Betty Evans on January 12, 1990 in Las Vegas. Lloyd attended the Ruth and Harbor Beach Schools. He was a graduate of Sandusky High School. He was employed as a test driver with Ford Motor Company from 1970-2000 and graciously took college courses through the company. He farmed with his brother Tom. Lloyd was an auctioneer at many auctions. He was a member and the president of the Sandusky Dance Club and enjoyed calling many square dances. Lloyd was a member of the Black River Tractor Club and enjoyed collecting antique farm machinery. He was a founding member of both the International Harvester Club and the Octagon Barn. He was a member of the Indian Heritage Society. He was a member of the Missouri Wrench Club and was proud of having the largest antique wrench collection in Michigan. Lloyd enjoyed hunting, flying planes, watching the Detroit Tigers and attending the White Rock School reunions. He also enjoyed writing poems and short stories and had a few pieces published. Lloyd is survived by his wife of 25 years, Betty of Sandusky; three daughters, Colonel Dr. Marie Annette Dominguez and her husband, Gino of Pennsylvania, June Jenkins and her husband, Tony of Virginia, Rene` Pierce and her husband, John of South Carolina; one son, Brian Schumacher and his wife, Nancy of Southfield; three step children, Michael Wert and his special friend Melissa of New York, Dennis Reid and his fiancée Lisa of Sandusky, Bonnie Wheeler and her husband, Paul of Snover; 14 grandchildren, Dominique, Ariel, Jordan, Zachary, Ebony, Tony, Christian, Oliver, Eliza, Ryan, Sean, Jason, William, Victoria; two great grandchildren, Adrian and Eden; ten step grandchildren, Morgan, Brandyn, Nathan, Jason, Dennis, Lisa, Madison, Keagan, Camryn and Brynn; 6 step great grandchildren, Grace, Faith, Luke, Skylar, Colton and Jaiden; two sisters, Arlene Martin and Jane (Ron) Volmering, one brother-in-law, Donald Kirsch; two sisters-in-law, Jacqueline Volmering and Margaret Evans. Lloyd was preceded in death by one brother, Thomas Schumacher, two sisters, Ann Uicker and Bessie Kirsch; three brothers-in-law, Morris Evans Richard Martin and Ray Volmering. Mass of Christian burial will be 11:00 am Monday, January 12 at Sts. Peter & Paul Church of Holy Apostle Parish in Ruth. Rev. Donald Eppenbrock will officiate. Burial will be in the Downing Cemetery in Deckerville. Visitation will be at the Zinger-Smigielski Funeral Home in Ubly on Sunday from 2:00-9:00 pm and Monday from 10:00-11:0 am at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church only. There will be a parish vigil service Sunday afternoon at 4:00 pm at the funeral home. Memorials have been requested to the Family Discretionary Fund.
