Constance Catherine Weber

Mrs. Constance “Connie” Catherine Weber, 97 of Ruth, went home to the loving arms of Jesus on Monday, January 2, 2017 after a brief illness, just 12 short days before her 98th birthday. Connie was born on January 14, 1919 in Harbor Beach to the late Mathias “Matt” and Catherine (Schulte) Forthoffer. She married Irvin J. Weber on October 31, 1942 at Our Lady of Lake Huron Catholic Church in Harbor Beach. He preceded her in death on April 15, 2010 after 67 wonderful years together. Connie worked in various occupations, including waitressing at the Harbor Beach Resort, Williams Inn and Sanders in Detroit. She also worked as a nanny in New Jersey for a while. Connie’s greatest work was as a farmer’s wife and a wonderful mother to ten children. She was a faithful parishioner of Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Holy Apostle Parish in Ruth. Connie was a long time member of the Christian Mothers and had served in many different capacities within the organization. Connie is survived by her 10 loving children, Marshall (Virginia) Weber, Br. Columban Weber, OSCO (Richard), Mary Ann (Paul) Holdwick, Gloria (Julius) Traub, Carl (Susanna) Weber , Douglas Weber, Karen (Gordon) Clor, Patricia (Richard) Kolar, Robert (Laurie) Weber, Linda (Scott) Smith. Connie will forever live on in the hearts of her 26 adoring grandchildren, Kevin Weber, John (Sonia) Weber, Corinne (Kevin) Schornack, Jeffrey (Wendy) Holdwick, Connie (Jim) Emming, Jason (Lindsay) Holdwick, Jackie (Ben) Smith, Jolene (Jeremy) Weiss, Michael (Heidi) Weber, Shannon Weber (Brennan), Nicholas Weber, Kaitlin Weber, Matthew (Laurie) Clor, Krystal Clor, Ashley (Jack) Garrettson, Bryan (Krystal) Kolar, Andrea (Fred) Myers, Michelle (Andy) Depcinski, Phillip Weber, Daniel (Ashley) Weber, Beth (Tom) Halifax, Steven Weber, Michael (Tricia) Smith, Christian Smith, Cory Smith and Aaron Smith; 26 loving great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by two sons, Dennis (1949), Merlin (1954), granddaughter, Tracy Weber Humpert, sister, Margaret Hennig, Brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Alvina (Vincent) Volmering, Eugene (Joann) Weber, Viola Weber, Iola Darden and Gladys (Harry) Herrin. Mass of Christian burial will be 11:00 am Thursday, January 5 at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church of Holy Apostles Parish, Ruth. Rev. Christopher Coman, pastor will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be at the Zinger-Smigielski Funeral Home in Ubly on Wednesday from 1:30-9:00 pm and Thursday from 9:00-10:00. There will be a Christian Mother Rosary Wednesday at 4:00 pm and a parish vigil service at 7:00 pm. Both services will be at the funeral home. Memorials have been requested to Sts. Peter & Paul Church, Harbor Beach Food Pantry or the donor’s choice.
