Melanie J. (Furne) Lautner

Melanie J. (Furne) Lautner, 52 of Minden City, passed away January 4, 2017 at her residence. She was born June 9, 1963 in Brunswick, GA to the late Richard and Marjorie (Fagan) Furne. Melanie was a graduate of Ubly High School. She lived in Minden City for most of her life. Melanie’s true passion in life was caring for the elderly and she did just that for over 25 years as a LPN at the Sanilac County Medical Care Facility and Autumnwood of Deckerville. She loved animals and enjoyed watching all the grand babies in the family. Melanie is survived by her husband, Michael Lautner of Ubly; two sons, Nicholas Furne and his significant other, Brooke Maurer of Harbor Beach and Michael Lautner of Camp Pendleton, CA; one granddaughter, Lauren Furne; two sisters, Cindy McCoy and her husband, Joe, of Harbor Beach, Lisa Kolar and her husband, Bob, of Palms; seven nieces and nephews. Melanie was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Edward and Ida Furne and her maternal grandparents, Ralph and Sadie Fagan. Melanie’s family will visit with extended family and friends at the Smigielski Funeral Home in Minden City on Saturday, January 14 from 10:00 am until 5:00 pm. Memorials have been requested to the Family Discretionary Fund.
