Ann M. Morell

November 22, 1922 — July 20, 2017

Mrs. Ann M. Morell, 94, of Ubly, passed away on Thursday, July 20, 2017, at the Courtney Manor Nursing Home following a long illness. She was born on November 22, 1922 in Ubly, Michigan. She was the daughter of the late John and Agnes (Tschirhart) Pulcer. Ann married John P. Morell on April 16, 1940 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church of Schmitt’s Corners. He preceded her in death on December 30, 1999. Ann attended the Rapson Country School and was a lifelong homemaker and gardener. Ann was a former parishioner of St. Ignatius Catholic Church and was an active member of the Ladies Alter Society. She was a current parishioner of St. John Catholic Church/Good Shepherd Parish. Those who knew Ann best knew her hands were ones that tended children, nurtured many and tickled toes. In the face of ones darkness, Ann prayed, secured and consoled. Ann was blessed with praying and helping hands, hands that held on, held up and reached out, to greet, to welcome, to steady the grieving, the ill and the weak. Her hands sent a lot of signals—hold your thought, hold your knife and fork, hold your own—and privately, signs—a lot of signs—of the cross, of acknowledgement, of genuine regard for others. She especially enjoyed playing cards, puzzles, reading, travelling, visiting, letter and note writing and quilting. Ann is survived by 14 children and their spouses, Joyce Swartz and her husband, John, of Saginaw, Bernard Morell and his wife, Dorothy of Ubly, Melvin Morell and his wife, Janice of The Villages, FL, Donna Lipskey and her husband, Raymond of Minden City, Maureen A. Ann was preceded in death by her son, Kenneth Morell; two grandsons, Michael Swartz and Noah Lasky, her brother, Bernard Pulcer, a sister, Elizabeth (Betty) Maurer, and daughter-in-law, Maureen Morell.
