Willard "Bill" O. Bratland

Mr. Willard “Bill” Bratland, 72 of Ubly, passed away Monday, October 9, 2017 at the Sanilac County Medical Care Facility in Sandusky. He was born on December 21, 1944 in Edgerton, WI to the late Melvin and Florence (Babcock) Bratland. He married Susan Knudtson on October 10, 1973 in Norfolk, VA. Bill was a graduate of the Edgerton High School in Wisconsin. He served in the US Air Force for two years. When Bill was not working, he kept himself busy doing things he enjoyed like fishing, hunting, bowling, watching sports, playing pool, darts and euchre. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Susan “Sue” Bratland of Ubly: seven children, Jason Bratland of Ubly, Chad (Charity) Bratland of Ubly, Patricia “Patty” (Michael) Swanson of Indiana, Roger Bratland, Paul (Carol) Bratland, Philip (Lisa) Bratland, and David (Amanda) Bratland, all of Wisconsin; 14 grandchildren. Bill was preceded in death by his daughter, Michele Bratland Friday. A memorial service for Bill will be held at 12:30 pm, Saturday, October 14 at the Zinger-Smigielski Funeral Home in Ubly. Pastor Phil Tousley of the First United Methodist Church of Bad Axe and Ubly will officiate.. Burial will be in the Valley Cemetery. Visitation will be at the Zinger-Smigielski Funeral Home in Ubly on Saturday from 10:00 am until the service at 12:30. Memorials have been requested to the Family Discretionary Fund.
