Mr. Raymond B. Booms, 81 of Ruth, passed away Wednesday, March 28, 2018 at Autumnwood of Deckerville.
He was born on June 10, 1936 in Harbor Beach, to the late Arthur and Henrietta (Kirsch) Booms. He married Elizabeth “Liz” Reid on March 27, 1999 in Forestville.
Ray was a graduate of a country school. He worked around the state of Michigan for over 60 years as an auctioneer. He auctioned for the local fairs in Huron, Sanilac and Tuscola counties, Our Lady of Lake Huron and White Rock School/Museum. Ray was a member of the Grindstone and Fox Hunters Sportsman Club. He enjoyed playing on pool leagues and euchre, fishing, hunting, trips to the UP and socializing with friends in his clubs. He truly cherished time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Ray is survived by his wife of 19 years, Elizabeth Booms of Ruth; two daughters, Sam and Tammy Kreiner of Melvin, Tina Booms Carson of Brown City; 24 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; one step-daughter, Kimberely (Steven) Tomes of Port Hope; one step-son, Fred Wisenbaugh of Bad Axe; two brothers, Earl (Beatrice) Booms of Harbor Beach, Carl (Majorie) Booms of Bad Axe; three sisters, Rita Depcinski of Bad Axe, Alice (Allen) Depcinski of Cass City, Jane (Harv) Learman of Dexter; his mother-in-law, Margaret Reid of Harbor Beach; two brothers-in-law, Bernard Holdwick and Robert (Linda) Reid, both of Harbor Beach; three sisters-in-law, Sherry (Lloyd) Kramer, Gwendalyn (Ken) Peyerk, Rita Reid, all of Harbor Beach.
He was preceded in death by one step-daughter, Rhonda Pawloski; four sisters, Violet Holdwick, Vivian Booms, Frances Booms, Betty Booms; two brothers, Charles and Richard Booms; his father-in-law, Louis Reid Sr.; two brothers-in-law, Barry Reid, Louis Reid Jr.
The funeral service for Ray will be 12:30 Sunday, April 1 at the Zinger-Smigielski Funeral Home in Ubly. Rev. Christopher Coman, pastor of Holy Apostles Parish in Ruth will officiate.
Visitation will be at the funeral home on Saturday from 2:00-8:00 pm and Sunday from 11:30 am until the service at 12:30 pm.
