Alger J. Nowak of Ubly, Michigan passed away October 18, 2022 at Stonegate Assisted Living Facility in Sandusky, MI, with his loving Goddaughter Nanette by his side. He was 87.
Alger was born on August 4th, 1935 in Yale, MI and moved to a farm just north of the Ubly Village limits. He worked with his parents and siblings milking cows and raising crops. He purchased the farm from his parents and married Mary Balog and they had 4 children. He farmed the land, raised beef cattle, and worked second shift at the Carmet Factory in Bad-Axe until his retirement.
He was an avid hunter and excellent marksman and enjoyed occasional fishing trips for perch at Lake Huron. He also enjoyed spending time with his wife, playing cards, traveling to Arizona for the winter months, and Casino trips.
Alger is survived by his daughter, Colleen M Rowan, of Bryan OH, his son, Kenneth J. Nowak and wife Marilyn of Coto de Caza, CA and daughter, Julie M. Nowak of Owendale, MI. Also 8 Grandchildren and 10 Great Grandchildren. His is also survived by his big brother, Elmer Susalla and wife Rena of Palms, MI, his sister, Diane Vandekerkoff of Ohmaha, NE and his baby brother, Don Nowak and wife Bonnie of Turner, MI.
Alger was preceded in death by his wife, Mary, of 61 years who passed away before him on Feburary 19, 2022, his parents, Frank and Lucille Nowak, is brothers Frank Jr. Nowak, Arnold Nowak and Harold Nowak, and his sister Evelyn Micheck and his first born daughter of 49 years, Lynne Ann Hart.
Graveside services to be held August 4th, 2023 at the Ubly Cemetery @ 1pm. Celebration of Life to follow.
