Diana L. Bensinger, 72 of Deckerville passed away July 24, 2022 at the Sanilac County Medical Care due to a brain tumor.
She was born on August 24, 1949 in Bad Axe to the late Thurman Bruce and Onnalee Faye (Rapson) Bensinger. She married Carol Newton in Anaheim, CA.
Diana was a 1967 graduate of Ubly High School. She was employed as an operator at Ma Bell. She was also employed at Consumers Energy and. She lived in Anaheim, CA for 35 years and worked for Pacific Bell. She also worked for Orange County Bus System for 10 years. She was on a pool league and enjoyed playing softball and cards. She also enjoyed latch hook rugs.
Diana is survived by her wife, Carol Newton of Deckerville; her siblings, Lori (Allan) McLeod of Bad Axe, David Bensinger of North Branch, Dessalee (Tammy Decker) Adams of Deckerville; son, Michael (Debbie) Newton of Santa Ana, CA; daughter, Debbie (partner, Denise) Newton of Santa Ana, CA; Son-in-law, Chico Moreno of Casa Grande, AZ, five grandchildren, Clarice (Alex) and Kayla (Lernzo), both of Casa Grande, AZ, Dalena (Anthony) Garcia of Redlands, CA, Sam (Rosey) Moreno of Hemet, CA, Rocco (Marie) of Banning, CA; 12 great grandchildren; one brother-in-law, John Andrews of Sault Ste Marie; sister-in-law, Linda Bensinger of Bad Axe; nieces and nephews, Kristina Andrews of Ubly, James (Amanda) McLeod of Bad Axe, Todd (Ashley) Adams of Caseville, Desaray Foreman of Clio, Tammy (Ken) Franzel of Owendale, Christina (Chris) Taylor of Bad Axe, Jason (April) of Virginia, Michael McLeod, Sarah Bensinger, Cory Bensinger Burkhard, Allison Burkhard; her beloved dogs, Saidie and Maddie.
She was preceded in death her grandparents, Earl and Dessalee Rapson and Frank and Winifred Bensinger; daughter, Sheri Moreno; grandson, Larry Alverado; niece, Amanda Andrews; two nephews, Cory and Ethan Andrews; sister, Sheri Bensinger; brother, Harry Bensinger; sister-in-law, Nancy Bensinger. .
The funeral service for Diana will be 11:00 am Friday, July 29 at the Zinger-Smigielski Funeral Home in Ubly. Rev. Scott McDermand, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church in Bad Axe will officiate. Burial will be in Valley Cemetery in Ubly.
Visitation will be at the Zinger-Smigielski Funeral Home in Ubly on Thursday from 2:00-8:00 pm and Friday from 10:00-10:45 am.
