Frances "Fran" Ann Lewis

Frances A. “Fran” Lewis, 75 of Bad Axe, passed away peacefully on October 23, 2021.

            She was born on August 21, 1946 in Bad Axe, MI to the late John and Leona (Heilig) Gleason.

            Fran was raised in Minden City and attended Ubly High School.  She was employed at Clements Wire and Cable Company before moving to Ohio for several years. She worked as a cook for many years, both in Ohio and the Huron County Area. Later in life, she settled in Bad Axe where she was known as somewhat of a “social butterfly”. She made countless friends who became family, many of whom would call her “Grandma” or “Aunt Fran”. She was always up for a hug, of which she gave the best in the county, whether you were family, a friend or just someone who she felt needed one. Fran was considered a problem solver to those who knew and loved her. Fran enjoyed late nights watching reruns of bonanza and Walker Texas Ranger and traveling with her dear brother Jim. She loved visiting with everyone. Fran cherished time spent with her children and beloved grandchildren.

            Fran is a beloved mother to one daughter, Kathleen Householder and her mother’s favorite son-in-law, Todd; two sons, James Lewis and his wife, Lisa of Harbor Beach, Paul Loesel and his wife, Cheryl of Gladwin; 5 grandchildren, Ryker, Noel, Adam, Devin and Katie and well as special “Grandma” to Clement Gardner; 4 great grandchildren, Jordan, Easton, Colton and Greyson;  one brother, James Gleason; two sisters-in-law, Gloria DeChane and Joan Gleason; many nieces, nephews and cherished friends; her best friend, Clema Przemytski.

            She was preceded in death by two brothers, Patrick and John “Jack” Gleason

The funeral service for Frances will be 1:00 pm Wednesday, October 27 at the Zinger-Smigielski Funeral Home in Ubly. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Wednesday from 10:30 am until the service at 1:00 pm.
