George P. Hawley

October 25, 1945 — November 19, 2018

Mr. George P. Hawley, 73 of Minden City passed away Monday, November 19, 2018 at his residence due to an apparent heart attack.

 

            He was born on October 25, 1945 in Caro to the late Leonard C. and Colleen P. (Thorp) Hawley. He married Lois Thompson on November 7, 1970 at the Owendale Methodist Church.

 

            George was a graduate of Cass City Elementary School. He attended Cass City Thunder Road and Owendale Speedway. George enjoyed hunting, fishing, word searches, crossword puzzles, playing euchre and checkers and sitting under a tree visiting with family and neighbors.

 

            George is survived by his wife of 48 years, Lois of Minden City; three sons, Jack (Lisa) Hawley of Fayette, OH, Leonard Hawley and George Hawley Jr., both of Minden City; six daughters, Tammy Hawley of Minden City, Patty (Doug) Barnes of Snover, Robin (Ron) Volmering of Harbor Beach, Billi (Rodney) Armstead of Riley, Ann (Dan) Paehlig of Ruth, Amy (Eber Hollinshead) Hawley of Cass City; 18 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; several neighbor kids who called him Papa; two brothers, Jim (Kim) Hawley of Arizona City, AZ, Ron (Pam) Hawley of Cass City; one sister, Sandy (Wil) Craig of Gagetown; several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

 

            George was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Mark, one sister, Diane Smith, infant sons, William and Raymond; infant grandsons, Derek  and Daryl.

 

            The memorial service for George will be at 12 noon Sunday, November 25 at the Minden City Town Hall. His family will greet visitors from 11:00 am until the service at noon.

 

Memorials have been requested to George’s family, care of his wife, Lois.
