            Mr. George J. Romzek, 85 of Deckerville passed away on October 17, 2023 at his residence with family by his side.

            George was born June 24, 1938 in Sigel Twp, Michigan to the late George and Cecelia (Richard) Romzek. He married Charlotte A. Micklash on July 8, 1961 at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Smith Corners. After 59 years of marriage, she preceded him in death on June 12, 2021.

            George attended a country school and then graduated from Sts Peter and Paul Catholic School in Ruth.  He worked for Boom Silo before joining the Army serving several years.  He returned home and purchased a farm where he and Charlotte began their marriage.  In 1965 he joined the Michigan State Police and served as a Trooper for 27 years.  He never lost his love of farming and purchased another farm in 1972 where he first raised beef cattle and then had a dairy.  He continued to farm long into his retirement.  He was a very active member in the community and was a leader in 4-H for many years, served on the Sanilac County 4-H Council, the Sanilac County Fairboard, which he served for several years as its President.  He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and enjoyed many other hobbies including playing cards quite regularly.

            George is survived by one son, Nick (Judy) Romzek of Unionville; two daughters, Sharon (Tim) MacFadyen of Kissimmee, FL, Ann (Paul) Green of North Branch; 14 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; one brother, David (Geri) Romzek.of Traverse City; three sisters, Mary Knoll of Caro, Agnes Hool of Clarkston and Dorothy Rinke of Lapeer; three sister-in-laws, Evelyn Romzek of Ubly, Susan Romzek of Grandview, WA, Pat (Ron) Schenk of Bad Axe; three brothers-in-law, Ken (Theresa) Micklash of South Lyon, Tom (Jeanne) Micklash of W. Columbia, SC, Bob (Karen) Micklash  of Fort Meyers, FL. He is also survived by his special friend, Dorothy (Geiger) Brey, whom he found comfort and companionship with in the last two years.

            He was preceded in death by one great grandson; brothers, Irvin Romzek, Eugene Romzek, Raymond Romzek and Benedict Romzek; two sisters, Irene Schevokas and Julia Steele.

            The Mass of Christian burial for George will be 11:00 am Monday, October 23 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Good Shepherd Parish in Argyle. Rev. Nate Harburg, pastor, will officiate. George’s family will visit with friends on Monday, October 23, 2023, from 10:00-10:45 am at St. Joseph Church only.

            Memorials requested to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the charity of the donor’s choice.
