Hillary attended the Rapson School and graduated from Harbor Beach High School in 1966. He married his high school sweetheart, Delphine Ulfig, on August 5, 1967. After serving two years, he returned home to work on the family farm and began a 37 year career at the Port Hope Road Commission first as a truck driver, and later as a foreman. He was a member of the American Legion Post 197 of Harbor Beach and the Rat Patrol #3341. After his retirement, he enjoyed spending time at his cabin, the “Varmint Den”, hunting with his children and grandchildren, and hosting his annual deer camp. He also enjoyed helping his nephew, Brian Pawlowski, on the farm, going to casinos , especially when he was winning, fishing, hosting fish fries, woodworking, especially his bird feeders that he sold, but mostly donated to others, watching his favorite team the Pittsburgh Steelers, browsing the auction sites for a great deal, watching his grandchildren play sports, and spending time with his family. Hillary was known for his larger than life personality which left an impact on anyone he met. He enjoyed his weekly or daily conversations with his many friends and family. Hillary is survived by his wife, Delphine; his children; Anne and (John) Kennedy; their children, Jacob Kennedy and fiancée Hannah Trowhill, Mitchell Kennedy and fiancée Rachel Carlton; Scott and (Pam) Pawlowski and their child, Kyler Pawlowski; Jeffrey and (Tamara) Pawlowski and their children, Blake, Samantha, and Sydney Pawlowski; James Pawlowski and his children, Nathan, Gavin, and Carsyn Pawlowski; Stacy and (Kevin) Ramsey, their children, Mason and Findlay Ramsey. He is also survived by his special “sons” – Brian Pawlowski and Jeremy Reinke. Hillary also leaves behind all of the many people who thought of him as a “second dad” or a “second grandpa.” He loved you all so very much! He was preceded in death by his parents Fabian and Susan Pawlowski, his in-laws, Jacob and Rose Ulfig, his brother, Paul “Gordon” Pawlowski, two brothers-in-law, a niece, two nephews, and several cousins. He was also preceded in death by another “son,” Andrew “Moose” Russell. A funeral mass and a celebration of life will be scheduled at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made directly to Delphine Pawlowski, to be used for the Veteran’s Fishing Outing, which Hillary loved attending each year.
