Leonard “Len” Sobczak Jr, 76, passed away peacefully in his home after a short illness on November 28, 2022, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born July 14, 1946 in Bad Axe, to the late Leonard Sr and Beatrice (Glaza) Sobczak. He graduated from Harbor Beach High School, which is where he met the love of his life, Doris “Pat” Dickinson. The two were joined together in marriage on March 7, 1965 in Verona.
Len was the founder and owner of Sobczak Construction, where he worked for many years. Outside of work, Len loved many things in life, such as going out and fishing on the lake. He enjoyed card games, whether that be at a casino or simply a game among friends. Len also loved to travel, taking his family on many “spontaneous vacations”.
Above all else though, Len had three great loves in life. Two of those were his dogs, Emma and JR, while the third was his family. He loved nothing more than spending time with all eight of his grandchildren.
Len is survived by his wife of 57 years, Pat Sobczak of Filion; his two children, son, Robert (Lori) Sobczak of Bad Axe; and daughter, Kristina Sobczak of Bad Axe; eight grandchildren, Cory Sobczak of Saginaw, Seth Sobczak of Bad Axe, Kaitlyn Sobczak of Essexville, Hunter Sobczak of Bad Axe, Casey Goulette of Bad Axe, Jadrianna Sobczak of Chicago, Illinois, Halle Sobczak of Beverly Hills, Michigan, and Jared Sobczak of Big Rapids; four brothers, Ronald (Sharon) Sobczak of Port Hope, Larry Sobczak of Port Huron, Jack Sobczak of Georgia, and Daniel (Shirey) Sobczak of Bad Axe; and two sisters, Cindy (Bernie) Zaremba of China, Michigan, and Pat (Harold) Simmon of Effingham, Illinois; one brother-in-law, Peter Dickinson.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Memorials can be made to the Thumb Animal Shelter, 2260 S. Elkton Road, Elkton, MI 48432.
Per Leonard’s wishes, there will be no services.
