Lucille A. Niemi

Mrs. Lucille A. Niemi, 99, of Ruth, passed away Saturday, July 4 at the Harbor Beach Community Hospital.

She was born on March 9, 1921 in Ruth to the late Edward and Cecelia (Kirsch) Booms.

Lucille was a graduate of a country school. She worked in Detroit for years as a nanny. She was also a Rosie the Riverter in Detroit at different auto plants. Lucille also worked as a waitress in the food service field. Lucille moved to Ruth in 2005 and became a member of Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Holy Apostles Parish in Ruth. She donated afghans and quilts to the parish picnic every year.

Lucille is survived by her siblings, Leona Mausolf, Marlene Mausolf, Leo Booms, Herald and Clara Booms, and Irvin and Marlene Booms; many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by siblings, Lauretta Gusa, Jerome Booms, Stella Lemanski, Delores McLain, and Lavern Booms; in-laws Leo Lemanski, Lucille Booms, Marvin Mausolf, Carl McLain, Kenny Mausolf, Jim Gusa and RuthAnn Booms.

Mass of Christian burial for Lucille will be Thursday, July 9 at 11:00 am at Saints Peter & Paul Catholic church, Holy Apostles Parish in Ruth, MI.   Visitation will be at Sts. Peter & Paul Church on Thursday from 10:00-10:45 am.

Donation can be made to the donor’s choice or to Lucille’s family, care of her niece, Brenda Page.
