Margaret T. Reid

Mrs. Margret T. Reid, 95 of White Rock passed away Wednesday, May 13, 2020 in Ruth, Michigan.

            She was born on June 3, 1924 in Londonderry, Northern Ireland to the late John and Elizabeth (Dunneley) Murray. She married Louis J. Reid Sr. on April 23, 1946 in Londonderry. He preceded her in death on October 11, 2006.

            Margaret grew up and was educated in Londonderry and was so very proud of her Irish heritage. She moved to White Rock, Michigan with her husband in 1947 and farmed with her husband and family. She also worked for Deckerville Die Form for 20 years before retiring. Margaret was a parishioner of Holy Name of Mary Parish, Our Lady of Lake Huron Catholic Church in Harbor Beach. Over the years, Margaret was able to enjoy three trips to Ireland to visit family and friends as she glowed with pride of her Irish heritage every time. Margaret enjoyed many things in life, visiting and having coffee, gardening, canning and playing Pinnacle. She loved to cook and bake, especially bread and her delicious Texas Sheet Cake.

Margaret is survived by one son, Robert (Linda) Reid of White Rock; three daughters, Elizabeth Booms of Ruth, Gwendolyn (Kenneth) Peyerk of White Rock, Sharon (Lloyd) Kramer of Harbor Beach; 24 grandchildren; 49 great grandchildren; 14 great great grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Rita Reid of Harbor Beach.

            She was preceded in death by an infant son, Baby James, sons, Louis Jr. and Barry Reid; one son-in-law, Raymond Booms; three brothers, Robert, Patrick and John Murray; three sisters, Mary, Kathryn and Lala Murray.

            Margaret’s graveside service will be 1:00 pm Saturday, May 16 at White Rock Cemetery. Rev. George Amos, pastor of Holy Name of Mary Parish in Harbor Beach, will officiate. She will be laid to rest immediately following the service next to her dear husband, Louis.

            Margaret’s family will greet loved ones and friends at White Rock Cemetery on Saturday from 12 noon until the service at 1:00 pm.
