Myrtle “Mo” M. Kowalski (Lafond), 84 of Lake Orion, formerly of Minden City, passed away in the company of her loving family on January 31, 2023.
Mo was born on July 17, 1938 in Pontiac, Michigan to the late Henry and Hazel (Allen) Lafond. She married John Kowalski in 1969 in the city of Las Vegas, Nevada. He preceded her in death on January 15, 2020.
Mo and John had lived in Waterford, where they raised their kids, moving to Minden City in 1991. She was known as a family woman, spending all of the time she could with her beloved grandchildren. When Mo was not spending her time with family, she enjoyed going bowling, playing cards, and most of all, her retirement, which allowed her and John to become snow birds, spending the winters in the warmer climate of Florida.
Mo is survived by her children; Ronald LaBarge of Tennessee, Robin LaBarge of Filion, and Michael Kowalski of Silverdale, Washington; her daughter in law, Maureen LaBarge; her grandchildren; Dominque LaBarge, Donald LaBarge, Ryan LaBarge, Melissa Dean, Alexandera Conn, Alan LaBarge, and Emma LaBarge; and her 12 great grandchildren.
Mo is preceded her in death by her sons, Edward LaBarge and Jeffery Kowalski; her brothers, Andy and Marvin; her sisters, Elaine, Karen, and Kathy; and her daughters in law, Linda LaBarge and Lucinda Kowalski.
The Mass of Christian burial will be 11:00 am on Tuesday, February 7, 2023 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Saint Isidore Parish, Palms. Rev. Robert Kelm officiating. Myrtle will be laid to rest in the St. Patrick Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation will be at the Zinger-Smigielski Funeral Home in Ubly on Monday, February 6, 2023, from 3:00-8:00 pm and Tuesday, February 7, 2022 at St. Patrick Catholic Church from 10:00-10:45 am. There will be a rosary Monday afternoon at 6:00 pm at Zinger-Smigielski Funeral Homes.
