Beverly Ann Grifka

Mrs. Beverly Grifka, 75 of Ubly passed away Sunday, August 7, 2022 at her residence.

Beverly was born on June 7, 1947 in Cass City to the late Anthony and Florence (Pallas) Darr. She married Richard Grifka on November 7, 1964.

Beverly was a parishioner of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Good Shepherd Parish in Argyle where she as also a member of the St. Joseph Altar Society and a lay minister. She was employed at the Ubly Seatbelt factory. Beverly worked for Deckerville Die Form from 1982 through 2007. She was also employed at the Cass City Stockyard Restaurant. She was a member of the Thumb Buds Garden Club for 15 years. She loved gardening, especially her flower gardens. She enjoyed making wine, famously named Bevie’s Cock-A-Doodle-Doo. She was given the gift of sewing and made some of the most beautiful quilts around.

Beverly is survived by her husband, Richard “Dick” of Ubly’ her sons, Darrin (Tammy), Brian (Wanda), Jason (Sharon); her grandchildren, Andria and Rob, Jessica (Cody), Amber (Tim), Keegan, Nicholas and Katelyn, Anthony (Kendra), Chenese and Dalton, Aerianne (Tony), Derrick and Danielle, Zachary and Ashley, Jarrod, Shannon (Jonathon); 14 great grandchildren with #15 due in January; sisters, Janet (Dan) McNally, Nancy (Bert) Dore; one brother, Dale (Linda) Darr; one brother-in-law, Ken Janowiak; two sisters-in-law, Eleanor Franzel and Alice (Fred) Pallas; many nieces and nephews; many beloved friends.

She was preceded in death by her beloved son, Kevin; one sister, Caroline Janowiak; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Enoch and Selma Grifka; one sister-in-law, Beatrice (Cliff) Ross; three brothers-in-law, Joseph (Bernice) Grifka, Jerome Franzel and Elmer Grifka.

The Mass of Christian burial will be 11:00 am, Saturday, August 13, 2022 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Good Shepherd Parish in Argyle. Rev. Nathan Harburg, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in the St. Ignatius Catholic Cemetery.

Visitation will be at the Zinger-Smigielski funeral Home in Ubly on Friday from 3:00-8:00 pm and Saturday at St. Joseph Catholic church from 10:00-11:00 am. There will be a parish vigil service Friday evening at 7:00 pm at the funeral home.

Memorials for Beverly may be directed to a charity of the donor’s choice or to her family, care of her husband, Richard.
